Since installing the Racer Tech Single/Dual Rate Standard RZR Spring Replacement Kit on our Project RZR we have tried to really put them through their paces through all types of rough terrain. From rocky creek beds to rutted woods trails, snow riding bashing through frozen plowed farm fields. The farm fields in my opinion being one of the absolute toughest torture tests. A furrowed corn field that has frozen solid will put any suspension system through a real workout! The Racer Tech springs continue to amaze! The difference you can get from just changing your springs and allowing your stock shocks to actually operate through their whole intended range is really impressive! The factory Polaris springs sag quickly and are made of a thinner material, thus requiring a longer spring to get an acceptable amount of spring tension. Polaris does this to save money, not to improve ride quality. The result of this is you end up running very high spring preload to keep your RZR from scraping and bouncing on every rock and rut in the trail. The genius of the Racer Tech springs is in their shorter heavier springs that allow your shocks to operate efficiently throughout their whole operating range. The rear springs are also dual rate comprised of a longer spring and a shorter spring stacked together. This combo results in a very nice ride from the long springs and when you really hit hard the short springs kick in to keep the vehicle from bottoming out. I jumped some snow banks with a landing on bare pavement and you can really feel the springs working when you hit the ground. It really is remarkable to feel the difference a simple spring swap can make.
After logging some good miles with the Racer Tech springs installed, I have found myself recommending them to other RZR owners I meet out on the trail as well as my riding buddies who have RZR’s. It’s very apparent that Racer Tech has done some serious research and development for this kit and the proof is in the ride. I was recently reminded of the difference when I went for a ride as a co-pilot in my buddy’s standard stock sprung RZR. After we got back to where the project RZR was parked I let him take it for a spin to see the difference, he was genuinely impressed with the difference and he thought I had upgraded the shocks as well. I told him the only thing changed was the coil springs and he said “get outta here”, then he asked me to email him the contact info for Racer Tech. I gladly obliged him and I assume I’ll be getting a call to come help him install a set on his RZR in the near future.
The one caution I would give if you install these springs is, not to get over confident when blasting rough trails or jumping. There are other parts of your RZR that aren’t up to the abuse that these Racer Tech springs are and you could end up damaging something else. There’s a reason why there are so many frame gusset kits on the market for the RZR.
Don’t expect these springs to transform your standard RZR into an ultra plush mega dollar dune machine. However they are definitely the best bang for your buck in my opinion and most RZR owners will be very satisfied with the improvement they will receive from the Racer Tech Dual Rate spring upgrade kit.
The attractive and durable silver finish on our springs adds a nice custom touch to the looks of the RZR as well as adding performance! It has also been a very pleasant experience dealing with Racer Tech on this project, they are truly experts in their field and great people to deal with! These springs are offered in a medium rate which is perfect for the majority of applications and a heavy rate for those who are really packing some weight onto their RZR. We couldn’t be happier with our results with the medium rate springs on the Project RZR, they have exceeded our expectations in every way. We ragained the ground clearance lost with the sagging stock springs as well as a much improved ride. This has been one of the best additions to the RZR so far!
